100 cancer patients that had not received any prior treatments with immunity altering modalities such as radiotherapy or chemotherapy were randomly selected from the Cancer Treatment Center of Tung’s Taichung MetroHarbor Hospital, Radiation Oncology Center of St. Mary’s Hospital. Fifty of the randomly selected patients were given Tien Hsien Liquid while the remaining 50 were given placebo. T-cell activities were evaluated to determine the effect on immunity after patients were given treatment.








Tien Hsien Liquid Scientific Study — Tung’s Taichung Metroharbor Hospital, Taiwan Clinical Trial of Tien Hsien Liquid’s Effects on T-lymphocyte Activity (2003.8~2004.6) This is Tien Hsien Liquid’s first clinical observation and validation in humans which targeted human T-lymphocytes; after ingesting Tien Hsien Liquid, it was confirmed that Tien Hsien Liquid can enhance T-lymphocytes activity in cancer patients. T-lymphocytes are the major response cells that fights tumors, therefore monitoring of T-lymphocyte activity plays a key-role in tumor treatment and prognosis. Research Content 100 cancer patients that had not received any prior treatments with immunity altering modalities such as radiotherapy or chemotherapy were randomly selected from the Cancer Treatment Center of Tung’s Taichung MetroHarbor Hospital, Radiation Oncology Center of St. Mary’s Hospital. Fifty of the randomly selected patients were given Tien Hsien Liquid while the remaining 50 were given placebo. T-cell activities were evaluated to determine the effect on immunity after patients were given treatment. Before treatmemt, after one-month and after two-months, T-lymphocytes from patients were cultured and stained with silver in order to measure the area of silver staining nucleolar organizing region (AgNOR), this is a measure of the T-lymphocyte immune activity in the body. Result The Experimental Group (Tien Hsien Liquid) : 48 patients – interrupted or treatment incomplete patients = total of 35 patients which yielded an efficacy of 45.7%. Control Group (given placebo): 48 entered patients – interrupted or treatment incomplete patients = total of 40 patients which yielded an efficacy of 30%. Comparison of the two groups showed that, after ingesting Tien Hsien Liquid, the therapeutic efficacy increased from 30% to 45.7%, therefore the T-lymphocyte immune activity was significantly enhanced. In breast cancer patients, the efficacy after ingesting Tien Hsien Liquid had significantly risen from 33% to 83.3%. Hence, it is predicted that ingestion of Tien Hsien Liquid during therapy is helpful in patients receiving cancer treatments.
