Suppression of Tumor Growth and induction of Apoptosis of Various Cancer Cells by Tien Hsien Liquid (2002.11.1~2004.6.30)
Through tumor inhibition experiments on redents, it was confirmed that Tien Hsien Liquid is capable of activating anti-cancer immune function in animals. We suggest that similar trials done on humans may obtain similar results.

Research Content

C-33A human cervical cancer cells and CT-26-1 rodent colon cancer cells were planted onto 6-well circular culture tanks. After over-night culture, the broths from the tanks were cleared and replaced with fresh culture broths and various concentrations of Tien Hsien Liquid supernatant, or 0.05, 0.1 and 0.5% fraction supernatants. After treating C-33A cells for 4~12 hours with 1% Tien Hsien Liquid, cells were collected. Cellular proteins, cytoplasm and mitochondrial proteins were extracted to undergo Western Blot and to calculate the apoptosis ratio.
I. CT-26 cells were cultured in RPMI-1640 culture medium containing 10% FBS, while CT26-1 and C-33A cells were cultured in two other Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium with 10% FBS. All three cultured cells were placed in culture tanks at 37? with 5% CO2.

II. Female BALB/c rodents at 5~7weeks were separated in to 2groups. One group was fed twice daily with 200µL of Super Tien Hsien Liquid, while the other group was fed twice daily with 200µL sterile water.

III. Five experiments were conducted. A 26G needle was used to subcutaneously inject CT-26 and CT-26-1 cells into the backs of the rodents. The tumor size and volume were recorded regularly.

Result

Tien Hsien Liquid can cause many cancer cells to undergo apoptosis. In C-33A human cervical cancer cells, Tien Hsien Liquid could decrease Bcl-2 expression but increase Bax expression in C-33A cells. Because Bax can move from cytoplasm into mitochondria to induce cytochrome C release, the mitochondrial route is possibly used to induce apoptosis of C-33A cells.
Results from 5 experiments showed that when comparing rodents fed with Tien Hsien Liquid to those fed with sterile water, rodents fed Tien Hsien Liquid were less likely to grow tumors and their tumors were significantly smaller. These results indicate that Tien Hsien Liquid can activate the body’s immune system to inhibit tumor growth.
